Who taught you about money growing up? Was it discussed in your family?
No we did not discuss money. My parents were old fashioned. It was a taboo subject.
How did you learn about money?
Once I started working I was on my own. I learnt by surviving and budgeting the money I was earning, which was limited. If I wanted clothes, I put them on lay by. I don’t think I seriously thought about money.
What do you think is the biggest financial issue that women face?
Not being informed at a younger age. I don’t think anyone every discussed how to save, how to save, how to spend and how to accumulate money. I also wish that men would talk to women about money, not at them!
What regrets do you have?
I wish I had gotten more advice and I also wish I had gone with my gut instinct and listened to others when they discussed financial matters. I also think its easy to sacrifice a little money in your early years, to get ahead as you age. I did not do this!
